Opened in 2013, the Amverton Cove Golf & Island Resort is a Ted Parslow designed 18-hole course, located on Carey Island, 50-minutes-drive from Kuala Lumpur.
This flattish, links-style course is designed around lakes, ponds and mangroves within a natural setting. Each hole uses natural features to frame the fairway and golfers have plenty of opportunity to spot local birds, crabs and other jungle animals.
Bermuda grass fairways are generally in good condition, with just a few bare patches here and there. Greens have only very gentle undulation making putting quite straightforward.
The signature hole is the par-4, 18th where a 220 yard carry is required to save you from losing your ball in a very large lake. Low handicappers will find themselves using every club in their bag to play their best round on Amverton.
The clubhouse is nothing special and you would be well advised to head down the road to a local seafood restaurant, rather than dining in the clubhouse restaurant.
