Awana Genting Highlands is a Ronald Fream designed 18-hole course, located just an hours’ drive from Kuala Lumpur.
Positioned 3,100 feet above sea level, the course is renowned for its narrow fairways, surrounded by jungle-covered hills. Hit too far left or right and you are unlikely to ever recover your ball from the thick jungle or well-placed water hazards.
At 5,860 meters in length, the design of the course presents even low-handicapped golfers with a serious challenge. Unusually, the most challenging hole on the course is widely considered to be hole 1. Holes 4 and 15 incorporate tricky water-hazards which require long shots across two large ponds. Dramatic elevation changes on the course make for some stunning, Instagram-worthy photographs. The par-4, 3rd is a stand-out; look up and you will see the Genting Highlands Hotel and entertainment complex 4,000 feet above you at the top of the jungle-covered mountain.
With panoramic views of Genting Highlands and the year-long refreshing cool climate, Awana is a popular course with both locals and visitors alike. It is a true golfer’s paradise.
