Established in 1893, the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) is Malaysia’s oldest and most prestigious golf clubs. In fact many consider it to be one of the most prestigious golf clubs in Asia.
This 45-hole golf and sports complex is located right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, close to the Petronas Twin Towers. The New Course was opened to the public in 1924, has been built directly next to its more famous companion, the Old Course. The site was once a tree research facility for the Malaysian Forestry Department, therefore enormous, mature trees and man-made ponds form the basis of the course design. The flattish course is relatively short at 6,605 yards and defined by narrow fairways and strategic bunkering. The signature hole is the first, where players find themselves teeing off in the direction of the famous Petronas Towers.
In 2016, the club hosted the inaugural Maybank Championship Malaysia. Clubhouse facilities include a restaurant overlooking the new course, as well as sizable changing rooms. The use of caddies is compulsory when playing at Royal Selangor Golf Club, New Course.
